A deep spiritual connection has long clung to the peaks of the high places of the earth and down through the centuries civilisations have sought their solitude as a place to find wisdom and peace.
As the altitude climbs the distractions and worries of the world below slip away as the mayhem and clamour of daily life dwindles from view.
And so it is of course with Jabal Akhdar – the Green Mountain – long a favourite with tourists both inside Oman and those who have travelled to the Sultanate from distant shores.
Not surprising then that tourism chiefs have begun to capitalise on this most prime of locations and are upping the offerings of accommodation some 2,000 metres up.
